REFLEXOLOGY LYMPH DRAINAGE
Reflexology Lymph Drainage (RLD) is an award winning reflexology technique which focuses on stimulating the lymphatic reflexes on the feet. The aim is to cause an effect on the lymphatic system in the body. It is a unique sequence that has been researched and developed by Sally Kay BSc(Hons), whilst working in cancer care.
Although the technique was originally developed to treat lymphoedema of the arm it is believed to benefit lymphoedema or swelling elsewhere in the body. RLD maybe a power tool to use while addressing following conditions:
Chronic Fatigue /ME
Headaches & Migraines

Thank you so much for a fantastic reflexology treatment, the RLD has really made a difference to my fluid retention and helped my energy levels! It was so good to relax and switch off for a bit!

HOW REFLEXOLOGY LYMPHDRAINAGE WORKS
It is power yet gentle technique that can be used with very little restrictions, for instance to support people who are at risk of developing swelling post operations. Many people are recommended Manual Lymph Drainage but this technique can not be applied to areas operated on due to pain or tenderness. RLD is performed on feet or hands and work on the whole lymphatic system hence it can be applied without causing discomfort to area that were operated on (providing its not feet or hands).
It can be savely used for pregnancy related swelling. Altought I strongly recommend and also check if your midwife was consulted and pre-eclampsia or similar severe conditions were excluded.
As any therapy results of RLD may vary from person to person. Some people respond immediately and I can visibly record results of lessened swelling (measuring tape), some may see and feel results later on.
I recommend weekly treatments to begin with, especially if your condition has been present for long length of time. However, frequency of the treatments is an invidual agreement depending on your personal circumstances.

MANUAL LYMPH DRAINAGE MASSAGE
Manual lymphatic drainage (MLD) has powerful cleansing, relaxing, pain relieving and immunological effects. It is very gentle massage that can be applied to a wide range of pathologies.
MLD is used to promote optimal functioning of the lymphatic system. MLD techniques facilitate removal of metabolic waste, excess water, toxins, bacteria, large protein molecules, and similar from the body via lymphatic and venous system.
Benefits of MLD may include:
- relaxates nervous system
- reduces pain,
- enhances the activity of the immune system
- reduces oedema
- improves skin appearance
- reduces sinus congestion & headaches
- ideal before and after surgery to remove tissues congestion and minimise scar formation
- useful to use as a part of post- mastectomy surgery to reduce oedema and fibrosis and to relieve pain and tension
WHAT IS LYMPHOEDEMA?
Lymphoedema is the swelling of a part of the body due to a build-up of fluid in the skin. It usually affects the legs or arms, but can affect any part of the body.
A recent study suggested 100,000 people in the UK may be affected by this condition. Whilst it is not a painful condition, it can be extremely uncomfortable and can affect mobility and movement.
Lymphoedema occurs when there is a problem with the lymphatic system. The lymphatics form part of your immune system and are responsible for cleansing your tissues and maintaining a balance of fluids in your body. If the lymphatic system is not working correctly, the fluid in the tissues builds.
Lymphoedema can be primary - from birth or secondary (acquired) due to injury, operation, limited movement.
HOW TO CLEAR LYMPHATIC SYSTEM?
Internally lymphatic system is stimulated by number of elements such as arterial pulse, respiration, peristaltis. We can support healthy functioning of lymphatic system by deep, diaphragmatic breathing, excercices: walking, rebounding, running, cycling, sdrinking of plenty of fluids and by MLD.
WHAT HAPPENS DURING THE TREATMENT?
During the first session medical history will be taken. MLD is a gentle yet powerful treatment and depending on your condition partial of full treatment will be done. The technique can also to use in conjunction with reflexology lymph drainage.
Areas worked on are neck, shoulders, upper and lower torso, axillary glands and arms, inguinal glands, legs, back and back of the legs.
WHO CAN BENEFITS FROM THE TREATMENT?
People who can benefit from MLD are those who suffer from
Chronic Fatigue /ME
Headaches & Migraines
As well as lead sedentary life due to illness or their job.
